Terms and conditions and eligibility criteria below apply. Contestants must purchase a Book from the Website and dispatched from or through the United Kingdom and no other location. Books must be published and dispatched by the 17th March to qualify. Orders are typically dispatched within 2 business days. Due to local laws, legal residents of France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Mexico, Portugal, Greece, Northern Ireland and Australia are not allowed to take part in the contest.

(“Official Rules”)

THIS CONTEST IS OPEN TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES ONLY WHO ARE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AT THE TIME OF ENTRY, SUBJECT TO THE ELIGIBILITY TERMS AS SET OUT IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES. NOTHING IN THESE OFFICIAL RULES WILL LIMIT OR IMPACT ANY RIGHTS A PARTICIPANT MAY HAVE UNDER ANY APPLICABLE NATIONAL LAW OF THE COUNTRY WHERE THE PARTICIPANT RESIDES. DO NOT ENTER IF YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO ENTER THE CONTESTAT THE TIME OF ENTRY.

ELIGIBLE BOOKS ARE LIMITED TO BOOKS PURCHASED FROM THE WEBSITE THAT ARE DISPATCHED FROM OR THROUGH THE UNITED KINGDOM, AS INDICATED ON THE WEBSITE, AND NO OTHER LOCATION.

1.HOW TO ENTER
The Book Depository Golden Bookmarks Contest (the “Contest”) is operated and promoted by The Book Depository Limited (1 Principal Place, Worship Street, London, EC2A 2FA, competitions@bookdepository.com) (the "Promoter").
The Contest begins on 02 March 2020, at 9:00 am GMT and ends on 30 April 2020, at 11:59 pm GMT (the “Contest Period”). The Contest Period consists of a "Purchase Period" and a "Mail-In Claim Period" as follows:
• The Contest "Purchase Period" shall start on 02 March 2020, at 9:00 am GMT and ends on 15 March 2020, at 11:59 pm GMT.
• The Contest "Mail-In Claim Period" shall start on 02 March 2020, at 9:00 am GMT and ends on 30 April 2020, at 11:59 pm GMT.
To participate in the Contest you must directly purchase any physical book that is DISPATCHED FROM OR THROUGH THE UNITED KINGDOM (see section 3 below) in the Book Depository catalogue of your country (irrespective of value, size, specification or otherwise) (the "Eligible Book") from the Book Depository website at https://www.bookdepository.com (the "Website") by:
• either logging into to your account (or creating one for free on the Website homepage by clicking on 'Sign in/Join') or using the 'Guest checkout' option; and
• purchasing the Eligible Book by transferring the necessary funds to the Promoter,
during the Purchase Period. By undertaking such purchase you acknowledge and agree that these Official Rules will govern your entry into the Contest.
Each Eligible Book will contain either a Winning Bookmark (as defined below) or a Regular Bookmark (as defined below) (collectively "Bookmark(s)").
Purchases completed after the Purchase Period will not be eligible for entry into the Contest.
To claim certain Prizes you must also complete certain other conditions during the Mail-In Claim Period, as described in section 6 below.

2.ENTRY CRITERIA
There is no limit to how many Eligible Books you may purchase during the Purchase Period and, therefore, how many Bookmarks and Prizes you may receive.
Any entrant that attempts to complete or submit fraudulent entries will be disqualified (including all of that entrant’s entries) in Promoter's reasonably exercised discretion.

3.ELIGIBLE BOOKS (UK DISPATCHES ONLY)
To constitute an Eligible Book the physical book MUST be purchased from the Website and DISPATCHED FROM OR THROUGH THE UNITED KINGDOM AND NO OTHER LOCATION.
To identify where the physical book will be dispatched from, please review and check the "dispatched from" statement on the Website prior to adding the book to your basket. This information is available above the "Add to basket" button on the Website and alongside the statement as to availability and dispatch timing.

4.ELIGIBLE COUNTRIES
An "Eligible Country" is any country or region listed as a delivery country or region on the Promoter’s website (/help/topic/HelpId/3/Which-countries-do-you-deliver-to#helpContent), but excludes the following countries and regions:
France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Mexico, Portugal, Greece, Northern Ireland, Australia.

5.ELIGIBILITY
Each entrant must:
• be a legal resident of, and located at the time of entry within, an any of the Eligible Countries;
• be at least 21 years of age for the duration of the Contest Period; and
• not be an Excluded Person (as defined below).
Employees, contractors, directors, officers, and agents of the Promoter, its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, sales representatives, and advertising, promotion and judging agencies and all other service agencies involved with the Contest, and immediate family members and persons of employees, officers, agents and directors of Promoter living in their same household ("Excluded Person(s)"), are not eligible to participate in the Contest.
As a condition of entry and receipt of any Prize, entrants agree to these Official Rules, the terms and conditions of Promoter’s General Terms and Conditions, a copy of which can be found at /help/topic/HelpId/19/Terms-and-Conditions#helpContent and Promoter's decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.
The Contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable) and is void where prohibited. Winning a Prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.

6.WINNERS
Winners of the Contest will be determined based on the presence of a Winning Bookmark (as defined below) contained within an Eligible Book purchased.
The Contest will comprise of the random proportionate distribution of Bookmarks in all Eligible Books purchased of the number and types set out below:
• "Gold Bookmarks" – 10 distributed globally – identified by reference to a gold colour Bookmark and a statement on the Bookmark stating "Golden Bookmark" alongside a unique identification number;
• "Silver Bookmarks" – 50 distributed globally – identified by reference to a silver colour Bookmark and a statement on the Bookmark stating "Silver Bookmark" alongside a unique identification number; and
• "Bronze Bookmarks" – 1,000 distributed globally– identified by reference to a bronze colour Bookmark and a statement on the Bookmark stating "Bronze Bookmark" alongside a unique identification number.
The Gold Bookmarks, Silver Bookmarks and the Bronze Bookmarks are the "Winning Bookmarks".
Eligible Books that do not contain Winning Bookmarks will contain regular bookmarks ("Regular Bookmarks") to which no Prize or value is assigned. The Regular Bookmarks will not include any statement identifying a Winning Bookmark and will not include a unique identification number.
The Bookmarks will be situated within or attached to each Eligible Book.
If your Eligible Book contains a Winning Bookmark you are a "Winner", subject to the terms of these Official Rules.

7.PRIZES AND HOW TO CLAIM PRIZES
Each Winner will receive the following prizes (the "Prizes"), subject to the terms of these Official Rules:
• For Winners with Gold Bookmarks – a maximum of twelve (12) books in the Book Depository (https://www.bookdepository.com) catalogue (subject to any availability and related restrictions applicable to the country in which you are accessing the Book Depository catalogue and subject to the applicable Promoter’s General Terms and Conditions, a copy of which can be found at /help/topic/HelpId/19/Terms-and-Conditions#helpContent), up to a maximum retail value of GBP 250 of the Winner's selection.
• For Winners with Silver Bookmarks – any one physical book in the Book Depository (https://www.bookdepository.com) catalogue (subject to any availability and related restrictions applicable to the country in which you are accessing the Book Depository catalogue and subject to the applicable Promoter’s General Terms and Conditions, a copy of which can be found at /help/topic/HelpId/19/Terms-and-Conditions#helpContent) of the Winner's selection.
• For Winners with Bronze Bookmarks – a 10% discount code off the Winner's next purchase of any physical book in the Book Depository (https://www.bookdepository.com) catalogue (subject to any availability and related restrictions applicable to the country in which you are accessing the Book Depository catalogue and subject to the applicable Promoter’s General Terms and Conditions, a copy of which can be found at /help/topic/HelpId/19/Terms-and-Conditions#helpContent). All Bronze Bookmark discount codes will expire on 30 April 2020 and must be applied using the code available on the Bronze Bookmark at the checkout on the Website when purchasing a physical book. The discount may only be redeemed once. Additional discount code terms and conditions apply (see /bronze-bookmarks).
To claim a Prize, you must during the Mail-In Claim Period:
a. in the event the Bookmark is a Golden Bookmark or a Silver Bookmark, both:
i. email a clear and unobscured photo of the applicable Winning Bookmark, capturing the unique identification number, to the Promoter at competitions@bookdepository.com; and
ii. include in the email your request for:
A. if your Winning Bookmark is a Golden Bookmark, any number of physical books, not exceeding, twelve (12) in the Book Depository (https://www.bookdepository.com) catalogue (subject to any availability and related restrictions applicable to the country in which you are accessing the Book Depository catalogue and subject to the applicable Promoter’s General Terms and Conditions, a copy of which can be found at /help/topic/HelpId/19/Terms-and-Conditions#helpContent) up to a maximum retail value of GBP 250;
B. if your Winning Bookmark is a Silver Bookmark, any one physical book in the Book Depository catalogue,
(your "Winning Book Request Entry"); and
iii. include in the email:
A. your full name;
B. your delivery address;
C. your email address; and
D. the unique identification number of the Winning Bookmark; or
b. in the event the Bookmark is a Bronze Bookmark, take no further action (in addition to those described above in this section 7) and the details and terms and conditions of your 10% discount code will be as set out on the Bronze Bookmark.
For Golden Bookmark and Silver Bookmark Winners, within two working days of the submission of your Winning Book Request Entry the Promoter will respond confirming your Prize and delivery details and process the delivery of your Prize. Prizes will then be shipped to the Winners in accordance with the Promoter’s Delivery and Shipping terms, a copy of which can be found at /help/topic/HelpId/2/When-will-my-order-arrive#helpContent , which sets out and applicable delivery timeframes and terms. All shipment costs and expenses associated with the Prizes for Golden Bookmarks and Silver Bookmarks will be borne by the Promoter (and/or reimbursed to the Winners, as applicable).
All Winning Book Request Entries shall become the property of the Promoter, and their directors, officers, representatives, advertising and promotional agencies are not responsible for contacting or providing Prizes to entrants who provide unclear or incomplete information or for entries lost, misdirected, delayed or destroyed.
If a potential Winner is found not to be eligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, if attempted notification or any Prize is returned as undeliverable, or if the Winning Book Request Entry is not received within the Mail-In Claim Period or a Winner does not use the Bronze Bookmark discount code before the applicable expiry of such discount code, if a potential Winner cannot be verified, or if a potential Winner is otherwise unable or unwilling to accept and claim the Prize as stated, then the potential Winner will be disqualified and the Prize will be forfeited in Promoter's reasonably exercised discretion. In the event that a potential Winner is disqualified for any reason, that Winner's Prize shall also be forfeited. In the event of the above, the Promoter will not award the Prize to an alternate entrant or re-run the Contest or any part thereof.
No financial or other compensation will be made outside of the Prizes. Prizes are not transferable; no substitutions or cash equivalents are available except, in the event of unforeseen circumstances where if a Prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded, Promoter shall substitute the Prize with another product of equal or greater value. Prize Winners will be solely responsible for all applicable taxes, and for any other fees or costs associated with the Prizes and/or associated products they receive, regardless of whether it, in whole or in part, is used, except such taxes which Promoter is the direct subject of pursuant to applicable legislation.
To the extent permitted under applicable law, and subject to any other applicable terms and conditions, each Winner acknowledges that Promoter has not made nor is in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact, or in law, relative to any Prize, including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose. Any and all warranties and/or guarantees on a Prize (if any) are subject to the respective manufacturers’ terms or otherwise therefore, and Winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty and/or guarantee.

8.INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Ownership of the pre-existing underlying intellectual property of the entrant remains the property of the entrant subject to Promoter’s rights to reprint, display, reproduce, perform, use, and exhibit an entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) for the purpose of administering and promoting the Contest and for Promoter’s marketing and advertising purposes. By participating in the Contest, each entrant grants to Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, fully paid, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable license to reprint, display, reproduce, perform, use, and exhibit (including the right to make derivative works of) the entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) and materials and information submitted on and in connection with the Contest or use or receipt of the Prize for any and all purposes in any medium.
Each participating entrant hereby warrants that any entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) and other materials and information provided by entrant are original and do not violate or infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity, moral rights or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity, and do not violate any rules or regulations. If the entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) or information or materials provided by entrant contain any material or elements that are not owned by entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, entrant represents he or she has obtained, prior to submission of the entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) and information or materials, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit use and exploitation of the entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) and information and materials by Promoter in the manner set forth in the Official Rules without additional compensation.
Entrant agrees that Promoter has the right to verify the ownership and originality of all entries (including the Winning Book Request Entry) and that, upon Promoter’s request, entrant must submit a written copy of any release or permission entrant has received from a third party granting entrant the right to use such property. Entrant understands and acknowledges that in the event entrant’s ownership, rights and the originality of the entry (including the Winning Book Request Entry) cannot be verified to the satisfaction of Promoter or is in any other way ineligible, Promoter may select an alternate Winner based on the same judging criteria.

9.USE OF PERSONAL DATA
By participating in the Contest, each participant is providing his/her personal data to the Promoter as data controller and acknowledges that the personal data an entrant provides will be used exclusively by the Promoter for the administration of the Contest and, where applicable, to deliver the Prize(s), based on the contractual relationship between you and the Promoter. Promoter’s use of personal data submitted by entrants in connection with this Contest will be subject to the terms and conditions stated in these Official Rules as well as to the Promoter's Privacy Policy available at /help/topic/HelpId/20/Our-privacy-policy#helpContent.
Your personal data may be disclosed to third parties and subject to international transfer to territories outside the European Economic Area. You may exercise all your rights including the right to access, erasure, rectification, restriction, objection and data portability, as well as withdraw your consent at any time and free of charge.
If you are selected as a Winner, your information may also be included in a publicly-available Winner’s list – see section 13 below.

10.GENERAL RULES
In the event of a dispute regarding any entry (including any Winning Book Request Entry), that entry (including any Winning Book Request Entry) will be deemed made by the authorised holder of the Book Depository account under which the Eligible Book was purchased or, in the event a 'Guest account' was used, the authorised holder of the email address used to place the order for the Eligible Book containing the Bookmark.
The Promoter is not responsible for technical, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this Contest or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Contest.
The Promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any entrant that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
Promoter's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Promoter reserves the right, in its reasonable discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest if it is not capable of running as planned, including, but not limited to, infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other problems beyond the control of the Promoter.

11.LIABILITY
The Promoter does not exclude or limit its liability for personal injury or death caused by its negligence or for fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that may not, by law, be limited or excluded.
The Promoter accepts no liability in relation to an entrant's participation (or inability to participate) in this Contest, including without limitation any use made by any of the Winners of (or inability to use) their respective Prizes, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Without prejudice to that general exclusion, the Promoter will not be liable for any loss of income, profits, sales or damage to reputation, incurred by any entrant.
Further, and to the extent allowed under applicable law, Promoter is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, undelivered, incorrect, or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in the Contest or by any technical, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries in this Contest. Promoter's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision
Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Promoter reserves the right to seek damages from any such person and entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12.DISPUTES
Except where prohibited by law, this Contest and its Official Rules, and any and all disputes and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Contest, or any Prize awarded and the enforceability of these Official Rules, are governed by English law and are subject to all applicable laws and regulations.
The entire mandatory law of the country in which the participant has his habitual residence remains applicable. 13.WINNER'S LIST
A list of Winners will be available on the Website for 30 days from on or around 30 April 2020. Requests for the name of the Winners may also be made by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to The Book Depository Limited, 1 Principal Place, Worship Street, London, EC2A 2FA.
If you object to any or all of your name and country being published or made available, please contact the Promoter at competitions@bookdepository.com. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
For the duration of the Contest, these Official Rules will be made available on the Website together with any other promotional material regarding the Contest.
