Description

When Daniel Pearse's mother dies, he is brought under the guidance of the AMO: the Alliance of Magicians and Outlaws. It is an introduction to a world of revenge, revolution and mind-bending chemicals, where anarchists, alchemists and high-stake gamblers exist. It is also a place in which magic and murder are the norm.

So Daniel begins a road-trip across America, an extraordinary quest for knowledge and understanding, for a six-pound spherical diamond and for an answer to the question of who killed his mother.

Subtitled 'An Alchemical Pot-Boiler', Stone Junction is an unforgettable outlaw classic.

Review quote

A glorious narrative, peopled by characters of genuine imaginative force * * Herald * * Reading Stone Junction is like being at a non-stop party in celebration of everything that matters * * Thomas Pynchon * * An irresistible kaleidoscope of manic, tragic and exquisitely funny Americana * * Time Out * * A work of genius * * Big Issue * * It's a demented modern odyssey of one strange man's quest for truth and knowledge in a decidedly bizarre - and decidedly American - world * * Sunday Tribune * * This novel is remarkable for its breadth. Amo is skilfully woven into the fabric of real America, and Dodge's sweeping take on that country, combined with the humanity of each of his vast array of characters, lends this book a particular kind of majesty * * The Observer * * Within half an hour of starting this novel, I was absolutely hooked . . . it kept me guessing all the way to the end * * The Times * * It is a non-stop take, making you laugh, cry and wonder. The characters are excellent and even though you know you that many of the events are genuinely impossible, it feels completely believable thoughout * * Highland News Group * *
