"It is true," replied Noa, "they will live again when the Son of God comes to judge the world." "It is false," said the heathen, " how can they live again? Their bodies are gone to corruption--their bones are parted one from another. It is false." "Wait," said Noa, "and you will see." Tauga, who overheard the conversation, came out and joined in it, talking very seriously of that day, when God should summon the world to judgment. On a sudden, four men came running into the house, with hatchets in their hands. One seized Noa, and another his companion, and lifted their weapons to strike the fatal blow. The teachers thought their last hour liad come, but'they were unmoved. They knew in whom they had believed, and clasping their hands, lifted their voices in prayer to God, saying, "If it be thy will that the hand of the heathen be upon us this day, save our souls." Yet the blow did not descend. He who has the hearts of all 'men in his hands, held back the chief from giving the nod, without which the deed of death could not be permitted.
