The first Committee on Literature brought in a report outlining various divisions of this branch of interest, and a list of recommended books on the following lines: 1. Books essential to kindergarten training. 2. Supplemental study to kindergartners in active work. 3. Books helpful to primary teachers wanting knowledge of Kindergarten theory and practice. 4. Books helpful to parents interested in the national training of their children. 5. Books helpful to kindergarten clubs and mothers' classes. 6. Wholesome books for children under 10 years of age. This same committee recommended a more intensive study of Froebel's Mother Play, Nature Study and Sociology in Kindergarten Training Classes, and suggested a closer study of conditions surrounding the dependent, defective and delinquent classes of children, the legislative provisions made to meet these needs, and recommended that kindergarten clubs and associations ally themselves with already existing organizations in their efforts to further such movements as child study, child labor, and general educational reforms, and to bring into print whenever possible the fruits of these investigations. The Parents' Committee has dealt with problems connected with the vital relationship of home to kindergarten and school, and parent to kindergartner and teacher and their relationship to the child.
