In addition to the 14-volume Jackson Edition, the CD also contains the Bicentennial Edition volumes 1 - 4, 7, 18 - 24 and the King James version of the Bible. The Bicentennial Edition commentary examines the sources and contexts of the Works by such noted Wesleyan scholars as Frank Baker, Albert C. Outler, and Richard P. Heitzenrater.

Of all his writings, John Wesley's sermons most clearly focus and expound his understanding of Christian living. The sermons constitute the core of Wesley's doctrinal teachings upon which his own evangelical movement was founded. The hymns presented here were selected by John Wesley for The Collection of Hymns for a People Called Methodist. The vast majority of the hymns were written by Charles Wesley and edited into their final form by John. The arrangement of the hymns was carefully designed to reflect the Wesleyan concept of the way to salvation and to portray the pattern of Christian experience.

The Bicentennial edition of the Works of John Wesley began with Albert Outler (of Southern Methodist University) as the general editor, followed by Richard P. Heitzenrater (of Duke University), and has now reached 12 volumes of commentary on the complete works.
