Description

This volume has been written to challenge some accepted perceptions, and to allow for the exploration of ideas. Relevant to students doing childcare courses, as well as current childcare professionals, it is designed to encourage creative thinking in the approach to childcare. The book conceptualizes an action-based process for working with children, which allows carers to explore the new ideas and constrat them with their own research and observations. The focus is on the children, with action and reaction occurring as a response to the interests and learning they gain through play, friendships and their environment. The creative perception model of childcare presented in the book incoporates four interactive concepts: vision of growing children; creative design process; design testing with theory; and transforming design into action and reaction. The research into this model continues to be carried out by practising childcarers and the Hobart Institute of TAFE.
