The fourth division begins with the twelfth chap ter, which goes back to the beginning of the Church of Christ and its early conﬂicts with imperial pagan Rome, under the symbol of the dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and the dragon's failure; while chapter xiii. 1-7 gives another beast, this time, if I read the symbols aright, imperial Christian Rome (east and west). To this power the dragon transfers its power and its throne.
