Mitchell Alice Neave William Cooper Procter Fanny Ramsey Robert Stevenson Through the International Chairman, Mrs. Mary Hatch Willard, of New York, The National Surgical Dressings Committee tendered its services to the American Red Cross, which offer was formally accepted by Mr. Elliot Wadsworth, acting chairman of the American Red Cross in Washington. Since February first, 1917, the Cincinnati Section of the National Surgical Dressings Committee has been in hearty and active co-operation with the Cincinnati Chapter Red Cross in equipping the Military Base Hospital recently established at the Cincinnati General Hospital. Sixteen cases of surgical dressings were made and delivered at the hospital for immediate use when needed. The official headquarters have been for nearly two years in the Dumer Building at Peebles Corner, Walnut Hills, but room space available there was limited and the volume of work required is increasing so tremendously now that when Mrs. Alice K. Bott offered the use of the lower floor of the Mansion it was enthusiastically accepted. There are many and varied kinds of work to be done and all who are willing to help with the sewing, cutting, etc., are very welcome either to work at the rooms which are open from half after eight in the moming till five o'clock in the afternoon, or at home. The packing and shipping for the afiiliated organizations takes two full morn ings every week. Cases are sent abroad containing new and old wearing apparel for refugee children, men and women, foodstuffs are sent, knitted garments, material, maternity kits, about seven hundred hospital shirts monthly through the American Fund for French Wounded and the...show more
