Description

Hot, wet rainforest.
What is hidden below your green roof?
A steamy shadow-land
Of strangle-vines, scrambling
for a shaft of light,
Lush leaves searching for a
glimmer in the gloom...

Discover thirteen incredible habitats, from the crystal kingdom Arctic to the dusty savannah and the black-as-space deep sea, in this beautiful tribute to the last wildernesses of our world. Poetic texts bring the habitats to life, while factual information at the back details the danger facing these incredible places.

'It was a delight to meet this gloriously illustrated collection of poems by Angela McAllister, carrying a single, clear conservationist message.' * Reading Zone * 'Nothing is spared from McAllister's warm, celebratory eye - whether it's a sloth or yak or mussels or polyps or the proboscis monkey or even fungi. There's a real love of diversity and an understanding of delicacy; how ever-close these places are to peril.' * Booktrust * 'illustrators Hvass and Hannibal showcase the flora and fauna of each location in a series of eye-catching paintings' * Red Reading Hub * 'a heady mixture of poetry and artwork which features 13 different types of wilderness...lavish illustrations' * Irish Examiner * 'celebrate the last remaining wilderness on earth with this poetic guide... A vital reminder that conservation is crucial' * Smallish * 'The last wildernesses of our world are explored poetically, and beautifully, in Angela McAllister's Wild World... exquisite and likely to make a mark on a child.' * i newspaper *
