Kaleah James is in the after school program at Wilmer Elementary School. A new employee Ms Bah is hired as a caretaker of the children. Kaleah loves Ms Bah's long colorful dress and is curious about the short broom Ms. Bah tucks in the sash of her dress. Sometimes the other workers are not so nice to Ms. Bah, the same way the children are not so nice to Kaleah because she goes to catholic school. Kaleah and Ms Bah grow closer to each other when Ms. Bah shares the story of the short broom.

About Adewuyi Gbenga Emmanuel

Adewuyi Gbenga Emmanuel grew up in the Ogun State of Nigeria, north of the busy metropolitan Lagos. An accountant by trade Mr. Emmanuel was frequently entertained by the questions posed to him by his American born relatives. A graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic and a member of the Yoruba ethnic group, his african voice answers the Western world's hunger for true recollections from Africa. Adewuyi Emmanuel is a wise story teller and collector of tales past and present about modern Africa. Through multimedia outlets including print and video Mr. Emmanuel reaches across the ocean to his brothers and sisters of the African diaspora to share, teach and learn.
