" But we haven't any wings," replied Billy. " Oh, yes, you have." And Billy and Dinah found that they really had, and could fly as well as any bird. After flying over several sparkling streams and silvery waterfalls, they alighted upon a bed of roses, in the midst of which stood the Palace of the King of Goodwill. It was a perfectly lovely little structure, built entirely of lilies of the valley, which fluttered and waved about, filling the air with their exquisite fragrance. " May we enter, Your Majesty? " asked the fairy, and immediately some of the lilies lifted their heads, leaving an open space through which they all went. The King, who was robed in pure white, and whose entire presence sparkled and shone ever so much more brilliantly than the sun, came forward to meet them, and led them into the throneroom. " Be seated, dear children," he said, " and I will speak to you. To begin with, I must thank you with all my heart for your kindness to the poor tortoise you found in your own world." The children were, of course, greatly astonished that he should know anything about the tortoise. " You wonder, I know, but had it not been for your goodness to the unfortunate creature, who would most surely have lost its life but for your self-sacrifice, it never would have been possible for human beings like yourselves to enter this land of Goodwill and Plenty.
