Excerpt from Wayward Anne Oh, I say! He exclaimed in a dismayed tone. I am most awfully sorry. It really is too bad. Anne was feeling too much annoyed to trust herself to speech. So with a slight, almost im perceptible bow, and an angry light in her eyes, she walked swiftly along the corridor leading to her door. Two doors faced one another at the extreme end of the corridor, and Anne's was on the right-hand side. As she put her latchkey into the lock, she became aware of something pawing her dress; and looking down, she saw the mischief-making terrier gazing up at her repentantly, as though begging for forgiveness. And to her surprise and annoyance, she saw that the dog's master was close behind him. She raised her head rather haughtily, and said in a voice of iced sweetness: Pray do not make any further apologies. I can assure you they are quite unnecessary.
