High school graduation is just around the corner for Jason Ellis and his friends. Their social life is booming and Jason has his girlfriend Rem by his side. So far, this has been the greatest year of Jason's eighteen-year-old life, but 1984 isn't over with yet. In the blink of an eye, forty-year-old Jason looks back at a life that feels wasted on broken relationships and a career that belittles his talents. Can the friendships that spun him into this oblivion actually rescue him from it? He'll find out when he returns to his home town in Nebraska: the only place where he remembers knowing who he was. What waits for him there is the past he has never been willing to confront. Jason and friends will all find their answers if they are willing to finally cross the walking bridge.show more

About Jeffrey Walz

Walking Bridge follows the lives of Jason, Rem, Hailey, and Nerf from their adolescence in the 80s, to adulthood in the new millennium. They learn to live with conflict and consequences they never thought they would confront. Ultimately, it's their friendships that bond them together and heal them in the end. The fictional story, Walking Bridge is set in Norfolk, Nebraska. Walz has made a simple landmark in northeast Nebraska a metaphor for the journey traveled by many in his generation, but this story transcends all ages, and geography. It is a human story about the youthful connections we don't create, or sometimes even cultivate. We simply accept their presence in our lives. There is just something special about people who knew us when we were young. These relationships revealed us to ourselves at a time when we needed it most - whether we wanted them to or not.show more
