Fourteen year old Frank Nightingale and his fifteen year old sister Lucy are heading for Midnight Island as passengers on a cargo boat, when they should have been spending the summer holidays at their boarding school. According to a plan found in the school library, there's a book of magic spells hidden in a castle on the island. The voyage is far from being a luxury cruise and when they get to Midnight Island things get a lot worse. In charge of the island is the evil, self-styled Count Drago who has been searching for the book of magic spells but can't find it. Frank and Lucy aren't superheroes with special powers - just ordinary teenagers who come up against the chaos and danger on Midnight Island. This is an action and adventure story with contemporary themes - written with young teenagers in mind. It also makes a great bedtime story for mums or dads to read to younger children. Will Frank and Lucy be forced into finding the book for the Count? Does it really have magic powers? Will they manage to get back to the boat before it leaves without them? That's just a flavour of this exciting, fast moving more

About Senior Lecturer in Law James Chalmers

As a child James was an avid reader of adventure stories. He loved the Famous Five books in which kids take on the adult bad guys. As his taste for fiction matured, James moved onto the classic adventures like Kidnapped and Treasure Island. What was important to him as a reader was the story. Now as a writer himself the story always comes first. With Voyage to Midnight Island, James set out to write a tale of action and adventure that kids from eight to fifteen will want to read and not put more
