About Jaime Pradilla-Sorzano

Jaime Pradilla-Sorzano is a theoretical and experimental chemist and physicist who has dedicated his career to the advancement of science and applied science. He holds a Ph.D. and a master's degree in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as BSc degrees in both chemistry and chemical engineering from the I.Q.S. in Barcelona. Jaime has published many scientific and technical papers and articles in international and Colombian publications, most notably his dissertation on the Jahn-Teller effect in electron para-magnetic resonance of monocrystals of copper compounds, published in cooperation with Professor and Distinguished Professor Emeritus John P. Fackler, Jr., at Texas A&M University. The Jahn-Teller effect is one of the most fascinating phenomena in modern physics and chemistry and is of importance for current scientific studies and development of high-temperature superconductors, one of the most relevant and promising fields of modern-day scientific discovery. The chemical industry has also benefited from Jaime's contributions. His technical papers on industrial lubricants and fatty acids, PVC extrusion chemistry, and agricultural products have been used to advance industry and its methods. In addition, his spectroscopic studies of solid samples such as phosphoric rock, asphalts, clays, zeolitic catalysts, and starches have been used to improve many industrial processes. He has served on many boards of important industrial companies and as technical consultant to a myriad of chemical industry leaders. Jaime is a highly decorated scholar who has held many important positions in academia, including dean of science at the U.I.S. in Colombia S.A., among others. In addition, he holds a diverse number of honors, including a lifetime achievement award for the advancement of science in Colombia from the ACEACE and professor emeritus from the U.I.S. He is a current member of leading scientific associations such as the Sigma Chi Society, the Colombian Society of Crystallography, and the Sarria Institute's Chemical Society in Spain.show more
