Excerpt: ...He played the Vivaldi concerto with all the delicate charm of the older school and in the Brahms number he fairly swayed the audience to the seventh heaven of ecstasy. On the following Saturday with Raoul Pugno the French Pianist Ysaye gave a Sonata Abend, playing the Mozart D Major, Lazzari F Major and Beethoven Kreutzer Sonatas. The performance was a triumph of art. Pugno is today the greatest Mozart interpreter and his other interpretations do not suffer by comparison. At this concert the applause was tremendous, almost frantic and seemed not to have subsided until after the next Gewandhaus concert when Pugno was soloist. These two artists are musicians who have reached the zenith of their art and are quoted as ideals among all music students. Of the less important players, Berber gave a fine performance playing with the Winterstein Orchestra a concerto of Max Schillings and "Poeme." from Jacques-Datcroze; both numbers were conducted by the composers. In Margarethe Kolbe we have another well-schooled Sevcik pupil who bids fair to mature into a very fine artist.
