About Jeff Vinter
Jeff Vinter read history at Exeter University, where he joined the university's Railway Society and started to explore the West of England's closed rail network in the wake of Dr Beeching's infamous axe. In the 1990s, he wrote four volumes in the Railway Walks series and, more recently, has acted as consultant to a number of television series about disused railway lines, most notably Along These Lines, Railway Walks, and most recently James May's Toy Stories. He was president of the Railway Ramblers Society and now oversees their website, as well as regularly conducting talks and walks along railway routes across the country.
