Description
This book asks "How can we outcompete traffic?" Transport has been a vital part of the development and expansion of America, but the time has come for a significant change in our attitudes and behaviors.
By increasing our choice and allowing for public transport, walking and biking alongside traffic, we can reduce our emissions, and energy consumption at the same time as increasing prosperity and improving the urban environment.
Alan Cunningham draws upon his experiences as a planner and the evidence from successful developments as he proposes a nationwide geographic plan that will allow walking, biking and transit to flourish alongside traffic.
This book is invaluable for anyone involved in the planning and development of urban areas.

About Alan Cunningham
Alan Cunningham is an Atlanta native who has studied and worked in landscape ecology and transportation planning. The suburb he grew up in used to have far greater transport options: the ghosts of streetcar tracks and biking friendly routes gave him a taste of how a city could be both real estate and nature.
