This book is for those who know the shock and impact of caring for someone with special needs. When that special child comes, your world shifts from the familiar to the unknown, including your plans for the future. Feelings of loss, isolation, or alienation can lead you to question your personal identity, self-worth, and the ability to stay the course. In this book, author Melonie Mangum meets you with compassion right where you are, with page after page of gentle encouragement, wisdom from the stories of others, and practical help from loving therapists who "get it." Her provocative words are to inspire you and enhance your journey as you fulfill God's purpose for your life and the life of your child with special needs. Be encouraged. You are not alone, and there is hope.

About Melonie Janet Mangum

Melonie Janet Mangum is a skilled people person, lovingly involved in the lives of countless people. As a young woman, she worked at her local school district in the Special Education department. The connection she made there with the parents of children with special needs challenged her to do more. Never considering herself an expert, in response, she pioneered the Touchpoint for Parents group at her local church. An ordained minister, she earned her practical theology doctorate degree with an emphasis in Christian education and evangelism in 1995 and her doctorate of theology degree (ThD) in 1998 from International College of Bible Theology. Since 1992 Melonie has worked with teams of all ages, both developing the team members as well as leading teams that train and equip people in numerous nations around the world. She is the founder and president of Partners For Transformation (partners4transformation.com). She also serves Aglow International as the Transformation Director (Aglow.org). She is the loving mother of three and grandmother living in California.
