After that she began her exercises, while Jean taught Muriel downstairs. Then she went into her room, and stayed there reading for a little time. In the meanwhile Evelyn had proceeded on her errand, and found Mrs. Rochester lying on the sofa in the sitting-room, with a shade over her eyes, which were very weak.
