TMNT have been on GMTV since premiering on July 20.The initial indications from both GMTV and Vivid Imaginations(master Toy licensee) are that the Turtles this time around have exceeded their expectations. "GMTV is delighted with the ratings for TMNT which, after only 5 weeks, has produced some of our highest shares of the kids audience so far this year", says Brian Hughes, Head of Kids Programming at GMTV. With an average 30 per cent share for boys 4-9 and 21 per cent share for kids overall, Turtles peaked at a 37 per cent share last week with ratings increasing week on week. With regard to Toy sales, the Turtles figurines have become No.10 on the industry Top 50 for July (NPD figures). Key retailers such as Woolworths have witnessed some fantastic initial sales; Jo Hall, Woolworths Commercial Director stated, "based on initial sales it looks like the new Turtles will be just as big as the first time!", predicting them to be number one for Christmas. Fox Kids will launch the Turtles on their channel during October half-term, airing the show at both 10a.m. and 4.30p.m. daily. The launch will be promoted heavily both on and off line themed around the 'Week of the Ninja'. In the lead up to Christmas additional products will be launched priming the market for the major launch in 2004.
