This book takes a fresh look at the well-worn topic of emotions and how they effect our lives and relationships. The message is simply stated but not patronizing, and based in theory and observations but not tediously boring. Both men and women will find the text realistic, fun, and understandable. And, it's quotes by George Carlin and references to John Muir's 1970's VW repair manual are a unique and interesting way to introduce what are sometimes seen as dull, sterile ideas. This is great primary reading for people wanting to look at their emotional lives in a more helpful, healthy manner.show more

About Mark Montgomery

Whether it's in his counseling practice, speaking, or writing, Mark Montgomery is known for an engaging, folksy wit. Somehow it manages to make its way through a strong Texas drawl, which he comes by honestly. He's a native of Austin-more specifically South Austin. Graduating with an accounting degree from the University of Texas in 1972 (psychology degrees were more in tune with the times) he worked for the State until joining his family's antique business when he was thirty. In the 1995, he got a MEd in Counseling (again out of synch--an MBA was the prize in that decade) from Southwest Texas State. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, he has practiced for over twenty years. In the course of working with different agencies, he's made appearances on a local call-in radio show and given presentations relating to his field. Recently, he's created a short book on the workings of our emotional lives, entitled Tuning Your Emotions. Intended as a primary reader on the topic, its format is simple and fun while focusing on important core concepts. In addition to working with clients, Mark is also available for workshops and book talks. And, competing with everything is his diehard devotion to his old '66 VW Bus. He currently lives with his wife outside Austin, close to his family. Mark can be contacted at markm0314@yahoo.com.show more
