Once on a while you come across a book that dares to stand its ground and say what it does on the tin. Whilst many books bow down to the pharmaceuticals, or skirt around the truth, Toxic World Toxic People, hits the corporations and our denial straight on like the crashing steam train that it does not try to deny it is. Are you brave enough to come out from beneath your rock of denial and face the light of the truth? Go ahead i dare you.....show moreby Jean Luc
What an amazing book, it is a shocking real eye opener into the way we live today. I learnt so much that at times it was a bit overwhelming but I am glad I have the information now. No wonder we don't hear much about all this stuff from the mainstream, they are protecting the chemical industry's 3 trillion dollar industry. And big pharma don't want their customers learning there are far better ways to be healthy! And much cheaper ways too! Despite the many references, and at times super controversial subject matter, this book just makes so much sense. Its so simple and easy to read. It shows you how to make changes to your life. And once you have read this book it will open your mind to the Toxic world we live in. Its such a big book you will most likely want to refer back to every chapter. Its such an in-depth health and wellbeing book! I'm so glad I have a copy and this new information thats going to help me and my family.show moreby jenny
Although the title of this book has a hard to swallow message, meaning that starting to read it elaborates on a lot of home truths - it's essential reading for anyone living in a city, a busy area or an area affected by pollution. The book offers up realistic and practical advice for detoxing, cleansing the body of toxins and achieving optimal health and wellness. The timing of this book is important too, just as people are waking up to the truth of gm food, toxins in our food and water and the effects that this has on our bodies. If I could, I'd give a copy of this to everyone I know, it's a must read if you care about your own and your families health and future.show moreby Rachel Holland
This is a really great book if you want to understand why so many people are sick and depressed in the world today. Whilst the medical community poo poo books like Toxic World Toxic People, its because they haven’t had the training to look at toxicity in an in-depth way. They are told that unless you are literally poisoned in one sitting by something that accumulation of chemicals just doesn’t happen. But if they aren’t testing people for this, then how can they know? The arctic circle has become the most polluted area on earth, with the animals and Eskimos testing so high for PCBs and mercury that scientists are incredibly alarmed for the rest of the world. If the arctic circle, once thought of as so pristine is now so toxic, what does that mean for the rest of the world’s health? surely it means that that is also affecting us as well? Anna’s book goes into detail about where Toxicity is coming from and also offers solutions for how to try and decrease exposure and to get the chemicals you have, out of your body. Its very well researched and referenced and also is very fascinating reading especially about depression and how anti-depressants generally do more harm than good (and have been linked to suicides and murders!) and how chemicals are triggering off the mood disorders in the first place. It was interesting to read how sick the author once was, she was labelled as severely depressed and with a personality disorder but after reading her book, its clear to see she is not like that anymore. Makes you wonder if there is a lot to what she is saying considering the medications she was once on, which she said made her far worse and it was only when she came off them, detoxed her body and ate well, that her mental state was able to become balanced. The medical community like to say that only their drugs will sort out mood problems! With over 100 Million people in the USA on psychiatric drugs and relying on medications in general, no wonder Doctors and Scientists don’t like the information she presents in this book. Its a big threat to big pharma! Whilst it is a very controversial book, you have to wonder why so many people are wanting to look outside mainstream medical circles. Could it be that they aren’t getting the help they need? I believe so. I highly recommend anyone to read this book, it offers a whole library’s worth of life changing information. And there’s even a huge parenting section in the book that is also incredibly important and valuable to read. Its such a huge book that you don’t actually have to have kids to benefit from it, but judging by the fact that most people do end up having kids, you can read half of the book and then leave it for the time you are going to have kids. its that big! I love how the author has tied in two big epidemics Toxic illness and toxic parenting. She’s right that these are two huge problems in society today and hardly anyone is really talking about them in the media.show moreby Charlotte
I first "met" Anna when I stumbled upon her blog "Miss Eco Glam" several years ago. I've always turned to her website to educate myself further on issues that I am passionate about and most importantly issues that I had no idea about! As far as I am concerned I believe that every conscious person/family needs this book in their household. Every single person has something to gain from reading this book and it's a great source to refer to again and again. She writes with a high working knowledge of every issue backed completely with scientific research to boot but most importantly has a talent explaining it to the reader in its simpler terms. Her blog and now her book has really opened my eyes to a lot of things we encounter in our everyday lives whether we know it or not. When you think about it the toxins we are exposed to from our makeup and clothes to our food are quite scary but this book isn't. It's educational but positive and Anna gives you advice from her personal experiences as well as guides for the future. If you're on the fence about purchasing this I can promise you this will be an enlightening book to read.show moreby Lily
Wow. This book for starters is HUGE! 827 pages so you know its going to contain a lot of information. I initially thought it was a book just on toxic chemicals and what they are doing to peoples health, but I quickly realised its really a 'whole life guide'. This is not just about getting toxins out of your life, but realising that there is a huge concern in society today with 'bad' parenting, that is creating unhappy and 'toxic' adults who spend their lives being really unhappy and just not living the life they are meant to. We all know that children are suffering today and I do think the author is onto something that if they were brought up in a much more stable and healthier environment, then we would have much happier kids in society. This book contains health advice on so many subjects! Theres sections on food, water, detoxing, chemicals in our skin and body care, the chemicals in our homes, and thats just part 1. The second part of the book is all about happiness and why so many people end up on antidepressants. The author shows the proof that they quite often make people worse, not better and can actually be downright dangerous. There's a big section on medication for kids and how they are being over used and causing a lot of harm too. I can imagine Big Pharma won't like this book one bit as the author really goes to town on highlighting all of the horrible things going on in the world today. I am really inspired by this book, its a bit scary at times, realising how toxic we all now are, but I know have a lot of knowledge as to what I can try and do about it. The parenting section (part 3) is enormous too and Anna talks about breastfeeding, attachment parenting, vaccinations, natural supplements, children's food, children's skincare, their schooling, their creativity, self esteem and so much more. Part 4 is a interesting section on environmental things like water, waste, and even has some recipes for inexpensive beauty products as well as recipes for cleaning products. There's also some inspiring info on growing your own food, even in small confined spaces. This is a huge book but full of so much attention, advice, and I love the authors style, its very chatty, down to earth and non preachy. The book is full of references too and a wonderful section to go and do more research from. There is a few spelling and grammar mistakes in the book which might annoy some people but it is 800+ pages! As cheesy as this sounds, if everyone read this book the world really would be a much better, different place!show moreby Michelle
