Detective Avery Chase and her partner Cameron Scobey are called in to investigate a murder at the home of a wealthy restaurateur. The killer has left the house immaculate; there is no trace of evidence available. This is only the beginning, however; as the week goes by, the string of murders continues. Each victim is a wealthy, prestigious member of society; each crime scene provides no further information than the previous. As Detective Chase must work quickly to discover the identity of the murderer before he claims more lives, the case begins to take on a personal role. Newspaper articles begin surfacing; they are articles that convey pieces of Chase's haunted history. Soon she finds herself to be entangled in the killer's game and learns that he may have a connection with the murders of her family over ten years ago. It quickly becomes evident that she is involved in this case on a personal level; the murderer has a reason for taking her life.
