About MR Ray Matlock Smythe

Ray Matlock Smythe received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. He received his Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Mr. Smythe taught American history for 39 years in middle school and high school in Washington, Oregon, and California. He has earned many accolades during his career. The three awards that were most meaningful to him were: being named the 1987 Portland Trailblazers Educator of the Year, being honored as the 2000 - 2001 Teacher of the Year at David Douglas High School, and having the Marywood Palm Valley School 2009 Yearbook dedicated to him the year he retired. He is really enjoying his retirement. This is Mr. Smythe's third book. He previously published So You Decided To Teach and One Card At A Time - Stories of Inspiration.
