The innermost thoughts of an acclaimed writer...Diaries allow us a glimpse into the personal lives and inner thoughts of their writers to find out their motivations, concerns and loves. Julian Fane now casts a light on his own life, bringing the lyrical style that defines his fiction to discuss a time when he is reassessing what it means to be a writer. Sharing with the reader his thoughts about the people who matter to him, his beliefs about the importance of art and his views on living through the tumultuous twentieth century, Julian Fane's "Time Diaries" record with candour and precision the layers of his life. Above all, this is the journal of a writer. How does he write? Why does he write? What does he read? An insight into the practicalities of publishing that is balanced by the constant flow of fresh ideas that show Fane's inspiration is as strong as ever.
