Kate hasn't long to make up her mind about what to do. As a student nurse, she wants to get on with looking after her patients, but it's not that simple. The hospital staff are finally being forced out on protest strike, and Kate has to decide whether to join. During the 36 hours, Kate learns about the personal history of the founder of the hospital. She learns that politics has always been part of medicine, and that women have always had difficult choices. She learns the horrifying story of what happened in the past, and that gives her the strength to look ahead with increased sureness to her own future.
