The Symbol Maker's Companion
The Symbol Maker's Companion was made exclusively for women who are attracted to the shamanic side of Mediterranean symbol making and ritual henna. It is a reference tool and a creative resource-a bit innovative while remaining very close to the heart of how henna has been used traditionally in the Mediterranean. Inspired by the mystery cults of the ancient Roman world, this workbook will provide you with the inspiration and blank canvas to create your own designs for the hands, feet and belly.

About Arlechina Verdigris
Arlechina Verdigris is a historical dance ethnologist, choreographer, percussionist, author and vocalist who specializes in the arts and oral traditions from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea. As a specialist in the women's ritual traditions of the ancient to the modern Mediterranean, she has cataloged and interpreted dozens of ecstatic rites and collected an extensive library of folk music and stories in their vernacular forms. Through comparative analysis, Verdigris has utilized this background to re-examine the works of classical Mediterranean authors to better understand the complex ritual arts of the many ancient cultures that comprised the vast Mediterranean as it transitioned through the ages. Verdigris' work challenges previous scholastic biases of racism and sexism, opening avenues of study that were previously neglected or closed off to others.
