Our customer reviews
This book is the story of 10 year old Melanie, her struggle to discover both who she is and the world around her.
I really can't say much more without spoiling it. The book's synopsis does not say much for good reason and so I suggest you skip any reviews with spoilers, because it is a lot more fun to discover Melanie's world by her own words - well, thoughts and feelings/impressions would be more accurate, since it is not narrated in the first person but it does seem to describe a 10 year old's point of view, which is part of the reason why this book is so engaging and you just have to keep flipping the pages.
I can however say that, to me, it is a book about love, on one hand, and what makes a person human, on the other hand. It is a powerful book and will at the same time entertain you, grip you, thrill you and make you think. It will also make you feel. Not just one particular character but most of them.
While I was reading it, I made a note: "Intense. Gripping. Damn brillant. I have barely been able to put it down since I first picked it up. When I do have to, I find myself blinking a few times to ascertain where I am and what I am supposed to be doing. If that's not a clear sign of how awesome this book is, I don't know what is." The storyline is extremely well developed and the ending is adequate, just right actually and made perfect sense.
I devoured this book for good reason. I recomend it to everyone and suggest you pick it up as soon as you can.show more
