The City on the Heights
In a region wracked by war, Maryam al-Mosuli feels protected. But then, her family is targeted by the Islamic State. In one shocking moment, she loses her parents. Hunted and desperate to survive, Maryam flees her home with her injured brother. When she discovers the City on the Heights, her hopes are lifted. The City, the brainchild of an American philanthropist, seems to be a place of renewal in a region filled with destruction. But the City has attracted others; others with far darker ambitions. As Maryam watches, it turns from a place of hope to a center of terror. Before long, Maryam herself is a target for the forces of destruction. And before long, the fate of the Middle East comes to rest on her young shoulders.
