Description

The author's first cat, Taxi, taught her to keep her chin up as she watched him struggle to live. The fan blades of a swamp cooler had hacked him almost to death. Thus begins her memoir of seven decades of learning from cats who have taught her that the impossible becomes the possible when she follows their example.

About Sharon Rhutasel-Jones

Sharon Rhutasel-Jones lives with her husband Larry and their two cats, Honda and Suki, in the village of Los Ranchos, New Mexico. After teaching over half a century, she retired to become a writer, coffee enthusiast, and gardener. Her first book, "Living by Ear: Memoir of a Wayward Teacher" chronicles her years of teaching against a backdrop of eloping at 16 with her cat, Taxi (and her husband-to-be of course), widowhood, and remarriage. The narrative contains recipes and poems as well. She's currently at work on a book of bilingual haiku for children and on a collection of poetry.
