Blagow thought he had seen Clara's critical eyes dwell admiringly on Wilkins' graceful proportions, lend an ear to his flatteries, and that the odious comparisons suggested by his own and Wilkins' appearance, might result in the loss of the only thing in the world he really loved save Tally Ho, so that he was gradually working up to a white heat of jealousy that would ultimately forge the very weapon Blaise needed to ensure success.
