Not illustrated. 1886 edition. Excerpt: ...prophet, in the 5th verse of the 53d chapter of his prophecy, says: "But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. " This prediction of the sufferings and death of the Saviour was spoken some seven hundred years before his advent into the world. Then, again, let us call your attention to a prophecy of Daniel, and learn therein something in regard to the kingdom which Christ has set up in this world, spoken five hundred and fifty years before the Christian era. In Chapters vii and xiv he says: "And there was given Him dominion and glory, that all people, nations and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." This prophecy has only been partially fulfilled at the present time. The prophet Malachi, some four hundred years before the coming of the Savior, very plainly foretold his coming. We give only one verse from Chapter iii: "And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may ofl"er unto the Lord an offering in righteousness." Christ himselfwas not onlya Priest and King, but was also a prophet, foretelling many events which afterwards came to pass. Letting this sufifice upon the subject of prophecy, permit us now to consider what is denom inated the experimental evidence showing the Bible to be a divine revelation. This consists of its wonderful transforming power upon individual life, as well as upon humanity in the aggregate. And let us for a motnent compare some of the peoples of the earth more
