I am a second-generation Asian American who was born in Massachusetts, grew up in Taiwan and Nebraska, and currently attends university in Michigan. Taiwan Tiff is about the first eighteen years of my life. Through these years, I have struggled forming a personal identity, given my multicultural lifestyle as a result of American and Asian influences. This book provides a roadmap in the form of short stories detailing this lifestyle. So why should you care? Does it end with a profound conclusion about life? Somewhat. Do I speak for all Asian Americans in the world? Not at all. But will you walk away feeling more entertained by my experiences and knowledgeable about what it feels like to grow up in the context of multiple cultures? Absolutely.
