Auberson, 90 beds, pens. 6'/a-10 fr.; B6t. de la Poste, pens. 5'/i-6 fr-; Pens, de la Dole), frequented as a summer-resort (English Church Serv.), lies in a green valley at the N.E. base of the Dole. Thence (guide, 6fr., not indispensable) we ascend, diverging to the left at a guide-post, 20 min. from the village, to the p/4 hr.) Chalet de Vuarne (4340') and by the depression of La Porte (612T) to the (l'/i hr.) top of the D61e (6606'), the highest peak of the Swiss Jura but one. The view (best in the afternoon) is picturesque and extensive, and Mont Blanc is seen in all its majesty.--From Ghigins, M. to the W, of Triiex (see above), a good path leads to the (2'/, hrs.) Chalets de la Divonne (rfmts.), tyihr. from the top of the Dole.--Another route leads from Grassier-La-Rippe (p. 297) via (1 M.) La Rippe and (3U M.) Venddme, whence we follow the broad path (to the right) through wood, to the Chalet de Potrauns (4816') and in 4 lira, to the summit of the Dole.--The best route for walkers from Geneva is by the Col de la Faucille, a deep depression in the Jura chain, to the N.W....show more
