Surviving the Fur Trade
This is the biography of Donald Charles McLean, who joined the Hudson Bay Company at Moose Factory in 1813. When the supply ships of 1815 could not get back to Europe because of cap ice in Hudson Straits that year and were forced to spend the winter in James Bay, McLean and others began walking to Montreal and New York where one of the group would catch a ship to London, England.
