It was raised to that rank by Napoleon I, January 1,1806. The executive power is vested in the king; the legislative, in the Diet, or Standeversarnmlung, of two chambers. The first chamber, or Kammer der Standesherren, is composed: 1. Of 5 princes of the royal family. 2. Of'22 heads of noble families belonging to the so-called "High Nobilitv," and possessing estates situated in the Kingdom, to which was formerly attached a vote in the (extinct) diet of the ancient Uenuan Empire. 3.
