Excerpt: from Bainbridge to Mr. Davis'. They were all talking there more or less and were talking fast and I simply jotted down a little memorandum of those things that were said. I don't think I got it all, it was imposisble. After I had jotted these things down I didn't ask Mr. Hill to sign it. I didn't believe I would ever have to do anything with it. I wrote it down because that was a habit of mine. I didn't ask Mr. Hill to sign it, after I wrote it down or read it over. This memorandum was made by me for my own convenience; because I thought my memory might 1 be pretty treacherous upon what took place there and what was said, sometimes it is. All of his language I couldn't take; simply made a memorandum of what I have mentioned of some of the things that he said. I didn't question him at all. Didn't ask him a single question. I don't remember as anybody asked me to go up there and listen. I don't think that anyone asked him any questions there while he was telling this story. I was putting this down in narrative form; they asked him some questions afterwards. They didn't ask him any while I was there, or cross-examine him and didn't ask him to explain anything at all there, not a word of that kind. He was still talking and telling what happened, when I left there. I left there, I went back gjy across the road to my office. I didn't remain until he had completed the statement. I heard a few things, made a memorandum of it and then came out. I didn't hear anyone ask him any questions. I don't think I did while I was in there, only what I have stated. I think I was in there about 10 or 15 minutes. I couldn't tell exactly. O. Did you hear anything said there about getting work, fixing or building, or repairing a barn; looking 820 for work of that kind? more
