Spirit be joyful! : 14 songs for Advent and Christmas
for high voice with accompanying CD Jane Marsh has compiled a wonderful selection of lesser-known vocal repertoire for the season of Advent and Christmas. This collection abounds in thematic, stylistic, linguistic, and musical diversity providing both students and professionals with new repertoire for performance in church services and the recital hall. These selections written in celebration of this joyous season by composers such as Beethoven, Resphigi, Schubert, Wolf, and others provide the singer with new and innovative material for performance. New English singing translations have been created so that these songs can be sung either in their original language or in English. An accompanying CD contains piano backings for the entire collection as an aid for the singer in learning and performing the repertoire. It also contains seven songs performed by soprano and piano to aid in the performance and pronunciation.
