Description

Spirit Wolf, the second novel in The last Sheep Eater series takes you deep into the mystical realms of the Mountain Shoshone's world of spirit animals, shapeshifters, and the powerful Toyawo, the spirit of the magnificent Wind River Mountains. Jim is a wise but aging mountain man who has been living with Red Eagle's band of Mountain Shoshone high in the winds. They had saved his life, and during his mending time he had fallen in love with the young medicine woman tending to him. He ends up accompanying the young Tukadika Puhagant on her quest to find the paint rocks and recover the lost memories of her people, ensuring that there lives would have meaning and they would never be forgotten. They are joined by the shape shifting Spirit Wolf, along with a giant raven of the sky people, Dog, Mesteno, and Ainga, their faithful mustangs. It is a huge undertaking for Aggretta, who faces the white soldiers, renegade bands of young bucks angered at the thought of giving up their way of life and on the war path with anyone they encounter. The biggest obstacle in her path however may well be the nynymbi, the little people, forever dangerous and unpredictable. Their quest takes them from the Winds to the Big Horns and they must pass through the little people's realm. Although Aggretta has been taught the ways to appease them, they are never to be trusted...It seems that even the Gods have a stake in the outcome of this unlikely band trekking through the wilds of Wyoming.show more

About Jerry D Kendall

i have lived here in Wyoming along the foot hills of the Wind River Mountains for over 55 years now and there is no place i would rather be. I grew up hunting and fishing in both the mountains and the vast Red Desert that stretches out for hundreds of miles right here in my back yard. Growing up right next to the Wind River Indian Reservation, i had the good fortune of having many good native friends and learned from them a lifetime of stories about the folk lore that surrounds the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes. Even though my books are fiction many of the places and tales come from the culture i grew up in. Spirit Wolf is the second in a series of novels that i hope will continue to entertain those who read them. I hope that you enjoy them and that they bring you some happiness.show more
