Resolved by this Assembly, That the amendments to the charter of the Middlesex Mutual Assurance Company, granted and passed by the General Assembly of this state at the session of May, A. D. 1846, and May, A. D. 1859, respectively, and which said amendments were granted upon the petition of said company; and have since said times been acted upon by all parties in interest and treated as parts of the charter of said company; shall be adjudged and deemed as parts of the charter of said company, notwithstanding any error or omission of said company as to the formal acceptance of the same. Approved, July 11th, 1867. Resolved by this Assembly: --SEO. 1. That Thomas Cowles, John C. Tracy, Jeffery O. Phelps, Jr., Charles R. Chapman, Buel Sedgwick, Lcman W. Cutler, Henry G. Taintor, J. M. Hatheway, L. G. Goodrich, Samuel Chapman, Thaddeus Welles, Daniel Phillips, Elisha Johnson and Isaac Barnes, _ and all others who may become members or associates with them as hereinafter provided, and their successors forever, be, and they hereby are created, ordained, constituted and declared to be a body corporate and politic by the name of "The Hartford Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company," to be located in the city of Hartford, in this state, and by that name they and their successors shall, and may forever here" after be capable in law, to sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, answer and be answered unto, defend and be defended, in all courts of record and in every other place or places whatsoever; also to devise, have and use a common seal, and the same to break, change, alter and renew at...show more
