Death by design.

"You think God has a loophole for people who don't have a choice?" Jamie shrugs. "Hope so, otherwise we're screwed." Evie doesn't have a choice. One day she's an ordinary seventeen year old, grieving for her mother. The next, she's a Shield, the result of a decades-old experiment gone wrong, bound by DNA to defend her best friend from an unknown killer. The threat could come at home, at school, anywhere. All Evie knows is that it will be a fight to the death. And then there's Jamie. Irresistible. Off-limits.

Our customer reviews

I was definitely pleased that I read Spark and so excited to find a book by a New Zealand author with great, authentic dialogue and an intriguing plot that kept on moving. I ignored everything I had to do and lost myself in Evie's mind and world. Rachael Craw is a unique writer, with beautiful images and clever language woven into a text that simply works. If you're into young adult fiction and want something with a bit more depth, give Spark a go. I am hanging out for the sequel.show more

excuse the pun, but its true. I was highly anticipating the release of this book and was really hoping that it would meet my expectations of a captivating Sci-Fi book that wasn't predictable or like something I had already read (ie: The Hunger Games and Divergent series) and this trilogy is set to be fantastic. I loved how it wasn't predictable, and right into the last 20 pages you are still left wondering how it was going to end. Nothing like a Sci-Fi book I had read before and loved the plot.. one to keep you reading into the night and hoping the odds will be with Evie, Jamie and Kitty. Just read it, okay?show more
