The book is aimed at 7-11 year olds and is set in Sparkopolis (Spark Island's capital city) where children will encounter its unusual but intriguing inhabitants that include the friendly Gang (Zeb, Nina, Strat, Dotty and Milo), the Spironauts with their noisy jetpacks and the hyperactive, shoe-mad Spydrax! All of them are on hand to give help and advise along the way. Getting to Grips with Computers, Book 2, is a PC based book for parents and children to share. All the activities are designed around ICT topics covered in Years 3 to 6, so parents can get an understanding of new concepts being learnt and help to reinforce new ideas. There is an introduction to MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel. Concepts and computer applications covered include: word processing, collecting and presenting information, simple programming, using patterns to create designs, graphical modelling and control applications. All topics introduced include useful and fun follow-up activities.
