Where there are trees, there are squirrels, and where there are squirrels, there are ripped garbage bags and ruined attics. And there are trees everywhere. Help arrives in Monte Burch's Solving Squirrel Problems. Burch, a lifelong hunter and observer of the natural world, reveals long-stored acorns of wisdom about defeating one of Mother Nature's wiliest and most persistent pests. In clearly written, succinct chapters, he shows how to turn your bird feeder into an impregnable fortress, friendly only to winged creatures. He also discusses battening down the attics, barns, and other areas of interest to squirrels. And he talks about why squirrels do what they do, and how to outthink them. For anyone who lives within sight of a tree, Solving Squirrel Problems is a vital necessity.show more

About Monte Burch

MONTE BURCH was born and raised on a farm near Clinton, Missouri, where the timbered Ozark hills meet the prairies. In an area rich in outdoor and Native American (he is part Cherokee) heritage, he spent much of his childhood roaming the countryside hunting, fishing, and camping. After working toward a college degree in music, he decided to return to his first love, the outdoors, and went to work for "Workbench" magazine. Six years later he became a full-time freelance writer. He has been an outdoor writer for more than four decades and has authored more than fifty books, including "Country Crafts and Skills" (page 37) and "The Ultimate Guide to Making Outdoor Gear and Accessories "(page 113). He lives on an Ozark hills farm in Humansville, Missouri with his wife Joan.show more
