Excerpt from Social Diseases, Vol. 1: Report of Progress of the Movement for Their Prevention; January 1910 This proposed measure does not contemplate the merging of the name or identity of the individual societies in a central organization. Each society would preserve its autonomy and its independence as a local organization. It is suggested that a meeting be called for the purpose of effecting such an organization at St. Louis in June, 1910, in connection with the meeting of the American Medical Association, and that each society be represented by duly appointed delegates.
