Let the learned set forth the logical argument; the faithful trust in the truth of the Holy Scriptures, and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, because it is so written by prophet and apostle. St. Luke xxiv. 27.--"And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself." St. Luke xxiv. 44, 46.--" All things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. "Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day." St. John i. 45.--" Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." St. John V. 39.--" Search the scriptures... they are they which testify of me." Acts X. 43.--" To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." Acts xviii. 28.--"For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ." Acts, xxviii. 23.--" Persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets from morning till evening."
