Description

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1810 edition. Excerpt: ...Universal Cosmography, vol. x. part i. p. 514, and following, somewhat more circumstantially. For Rapin and Hume it was insignificant. By comparing both the transcripts of the 88th leaf from Rehdiger's copy, and the pieces from the manuscript itself, it is easy to perceive that, on the 88th leaf cut therefrom, there has been no picture. The contents of this, and of all the chapters of the missing leaves, have been copied from the contents of the printed chapters prefixed to the volume. SUPPLEMENT II. Conclusion of the 109th leaf of the manuscript of 23 lines: ' Comment les compaignes, ' &c. The 110th leaf, according to Rehdiger's copy: Cheualier, ' &c. Commencement of the 111th leaf of the manuscript of fourteen lines: Jurer tous les prelats, ' &c. (23) Here Sauvage's edition, vol. i. ch. 324. 325. p. 454. 455. varies greatly from the manuscript. In Hume's history of England, vol. ii. tranflated at Breflau and Leipsic, 1767. page 211. scarcely half a page. Rapin has more, Ed. II. a la Haye 1727. T. iii. p. 242. 245.; but much shorter is Guthrie, page 519. On the leaf cut out, there can have been no picture.. SUPPLEMENT IIT. Conclusion of the 201st leaf of the manuscript of 44 lines: Ce propre jour, ' &c. (24) The 202d leaf according to the text of Sauvage, as Rehdiger has corrected it: 1 Yeuji laifc; &c. Commencement of the 203d leaf of the manuscript of 36 lines: Plaint armoieries &c. (26) A small cut has evidently been upon the 202d leaf. With this Sauvage's text, vol. ii. c. 53. p. 90. in the middle of the fifth line from the end, as far as c. 54. p. 92. line 2. is to be compared; thence the deviation of his text from thshow more
