Brian and his friends are not part of the cool crowd. They're the misfits, the troublemakers -- the ones who jump their High School's electrified fence to skip school regularly. So when the virus breaks out, they're the only ones with a chance of surviving. The virus turns Brian's classmates and teachers into bloodthirsty attackers who don't die easily. In other words: Zombies. The whole school goes on lockdown and the military surrounds the fence, and Brian and his best friend Chad are safe (and stuck) in the theater department -- far from Brian's sister, Kenzie and his ex-girlfriend with a panic attack problem, Laura. Brian and Chad, along with some of the theater kids who he'd never given the time of day before, decide to find the girls and bring them to the safety of the theater. But it won't be easy and it will test everything they thought they knew about themselves and their classmates. In a world turned upside down, who exactly are the real monsters?show more

Our customer reviews

I never read horror books and I have my reasons for that: they just freak me out and I am afraid I won't be able to sleep at night. After winning this book at a Twitter giveaway I was quite hesitant about reading it, but I decided to do it right away. It matched the period around Halloween. And I am quite surprised. I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it was quite scary at times, but I really enjoyed it! Tom Leveen knows how to write a story, especially through the eyes of a teenager my age. I could relate to Brian, even though he was a guy. I also liked how the author had added a character with a panic attack problem, Laura. I could relate to her, because I tend to panic often. I don't really know what I could possibly say about this book, besides that it was a book I probably would not have picked up in the shop myself if I hadn't won this book, although I was surprised. I might want to read more 'horror' books now. I still have a lot on my shelf, but I don't think there are any horror books there. But besides that. This book was a fun read. The layout in the book looked great, I loved it. It was lovely how they marked every chapter the way they did in the book. As a graphic designer, I could see all the effort that was put in it. I loved it a lot. I highly recommend this book if you like horror books or you want to read something new and refreshing. I know the zombie theme has been done quite lot, but this one was not really like the zombie books in general. This one was different. If you have read the book, please let me know what you thought of it!show more
