Description

Starting in 2005, the Shifting Perspectives photographic exhibition examined the day-to-day lives of people, with Down's syndrome, their connection to the photographers and the changes throughout the course of their lives. Over the years the exhibition has brought together twelve professional photographers who all have a personal connection with Down's syndrome. Each photographer displays their individual style with all the images being held together by presenting the viewer with strong, contemporary and up-to-date images of people with Down's syndrome.

The book explores the photographic representation of people with Down's syndrome, challenging attitudes and prejudices and examining alternative representations of both adults and children. Shifting Perspectives questions general views of what living with Down's syndrome means to individuals, families and friends.

The Shifting Perspectives Photographic Book is a celebration of all aspects of living with Down's syndrome in the 21st century and the eight years of work which form the touring exhibition.
