Description

Lydia Beaucoup and Acey Allen are two childhood friends who've grown up to become successful mid-career professionals. But, turning forty, their career success far outstrips their romantic and sexual contentment. They hatch a plan to turn the world's oldest profession on its head: why not develop a new business aimed at meeting the needs of women, in an environment that's discreet, safe, and more importantly, completely focused on their pleasure? Thus is born the idea for A Sister's Spa - a 'full service' facility that supplies handsome men willing and able to fulfil their clients' every desire. But launching their enterprise is a struggle: even as their customer base grows, they face attacks from grandstanding church and community leaders, and a hostile media.show more

Review quote

"'Nelson's assiduously imagined inversion of brothel life cooks with humour and invention...Compared to other recent novels on the sex industry - Houellebecq, Amis et al - Nelson's sexcapades are a less clinical, more aromatherapeutic affair' Independent 'A sharp, funny romp through women's sexuality... The result? Pleasure and outrage in equal measure' Sainsbury's Magazine 'Brilliantly punctuated with sexy encounters and frank observations of sexual and racial politics, Sexual Healing is a genuine page-turner, and a brave, boisterous beginning. It deserves to make Nelson a household name' Diva 'Truthful, honest and extremely funny' Buzz"show more
